EZ Debug Led Windows not booting up the best solutions!

Has it ever happened that you wake up and with all the excitement in the world and try to boot up your system and to your surprise, the screen stays blank but the cabinet and the CPU cooler fans are working just fine! You try replugging the display cable and that does nothing to help you. This is where panicking starts. Suddenly you notice a white or red Led on your motherboard which stays on and says EZ Debug. EZ Debug Led is a feature in MSI motherboards to make it easier for you to know what the issue is when your system isn’t booting up. The Led allows options for CPU, DRam and VGA where the Led against the component causing the issue stays on. If your Led is stuck on either CPU, DRam or VGA and causing your system to simply not boot up you are in the right place.

The LED may or may not be colour-coded, depending on your motherboard model.

Sometimes the error may be red, other times it may be white. When any of these debug lights appear, they will remain solid until the issue is fixed.

Such errors can easily occur due to a lack of cleaning from time to time. Check for some obvious damages to the cables and hardware and make sure everything is in place.

Perform a POST test on your system with only GPU, CPU and one Ram module. Disconnect all USB cables and peripherals and see if this brings the display back.

Fixing EZ Debug Led and getting your system to boot

You could try these possible solutions which might work out for you!

• Reset CMOS.
• Check all cables are plugged in properly.
• Clean your Ram sticks and the Ram slots on the motherboard.
• Reinstall thermal paste.
• Check for hardware damage(broken cpu pins and burnt wires).
• Reinstall Cpu,Gpu and Ram.
• Check if the motherboard is in contact with a metal part of the Case.

Open up your cabinet and make sure your system is turned off, right in the middle you will find a little lithium-ion battery. 1.CPU

If the CPU Led stays it might be a good idea to unscrew the cooler clean it thoroughly and make sure the CPU is properly sitting on the socket. In my experience, this fixed the problem for me. The CPU wasn’t correctly sitting on the socket and was stuck on to the Heat sink. Cleaning and reinstalling the CPU and thermal paste brought the display back for me! Check for broken pins and make sure the CPU power cable is connected properly.

2.DRam

If the Led stays stuck on DRam then the problem lies in your Ram. Try to clean your Ram sticks with an eraser and the Ram slots with a dry brush. Try Installing only one Ram stick if you have multiple and try them in different slots and make sure you hear a click when installing the Ram module onto your motherboard don’t hesitate while applying force!

Troubleshoot your Ram sticks in a different system or try installing a different Ram module into your motherboard to see if the problem lies in the Ram sticks or the motherboard.

3.VGA

If the Led stays stuck on VGA try checking your GPU’s cable first clean your Graphics card similarly to how you cleaned your Ram sticks and simply reinstall it.

See if there are any visible damages in the display ports of your GPU. Make sure all the cables are plugged in tightly. Again trying another GPU or your GPU in another system might be a good idea to help shortlist the actual issue.

If none of the solutions brings your Display back try troubleshooting one by one. Test your motherboard, GPU, Ram and CPU individually and see which of your component is the root of the error. In a rare case, it might also be possible that the source of the problem was a badly installed motherboard! You need to absolutely ensure that no part of your motherboard is directly in contact with the chassis which can actually lead to more possible problems.

Other possible issues.

If none of the solutions brings your Display back try troubleshooting one by one. Test your motherboard, GPU, Ram and CPU individually and see which of your component is the root of the error. In a rare case, it might also be possible that the source of the problem was a badly installed motherboard! You need to absolutely ensure that no part of your motherboard is directly in contact with the chassis which can actually lead to more possible problems.

Try unplugging your SSD or Hard disk one by one to see if either of those is corrupted and are the source of your problem.

If none of the solutions works out for you it might be a good idea to get an RMA done(which worked in my case) and get the defective component replaced.
