The best way to make money in Tears of the Kingdom is definitely by selling valuable items like gems, cooked rare dishes, and Star fragments. The gems can be acquired by mining caves and by using Dondons to produce them. Other than that you can farm Gourmet and prime meat which can be acquired easily by hunting animals and cook ‘full recovery meat skewers’ that can be sold for a hefty price to any other trader in the game.

Farming and selling rare Gems in Tears of the Kingdoms for Rupees

Gems are one of the most valuable items in TOTK not only can they be used for elemental damage they also provide high value upon selling making them a super important ingame item and here’s how you can get a ton of them.

Tears of the Kingdom introduces us to a new species of animals, the Dondons. Dondons are extremely rare creatures in Tears of the Kingdom. They’re large, mysterious animals that look like a hybrid of a rhino and an ox. They can’t be hunted or killed but serve a much better purpose.

Dondons can be found North of the Lakeside Stable in the Faron region at a sanctuary. The NPC watching over the Dondon Sanctuary reveals that feeding Luminous stones to Dondons results them in producing Gems later. This can be used to produce valuable and more expensive gems like Saphire, Amber, Diamond, rubies and even Zonaite.

Simply bring up your inventory using the ‘+’ button and find Luminous stones, press X to start holding them. Drop 5 luminous stones in front of each Dondons and wait for them to produce the resulting gems after a couple of ingame days. Simply pass the time near a campfire. The Dondons randomly produce 3x amber, 2x rubies, 1x sapphire, 4x zonaite or 1x diamond after feeding 5 Luminous stones.

If you are short on Luminous stones, you can farm them through caves and mountains.

Alternatively, if you don’t mind exploiting glitches, you can use the item duplication glitch to duplicate star fragments and diamonds and sell them directly.

Making and selling valuable Dishes for Rupees in Tears of the Kingdom

Another way to make money quickly is by selling a rare dish to Beedle at any Stable in-game. The trick is straightforward and requires a bit of hunting, down at the Hebra region, the Hebra region is full of animal species with Prime and Gourmet meat. Animals like Moose, Wolves, deer, Boars and Bears drop Raw Prime and Gourmet meat, 5 of which can be used to cook full Recovery Meat Skewers that can be sold for up to 315 Rupees.

Raw meat is not as scarce as gems but requires a bit of Wild animal hunting and cooking to fetch the valuable coin.
